Honor Our Teachers would like to recognize Mrs. Mary Joe at  Newcomb Elementary School!

Mrs. Joe's Principal describes her as a phenomenal teacher. She has set up her classroom in a manner that allow her to differentiate her lessons among the different levels of learners in her room. By doing so, she has moved over 3/4 of her students to proficiency by the MOY benchmark cycle. Last year, she had 99% proficiency by EOY. Mrs. Joe is a soft-spoken, respectful, dedicated, date-oriented, and effective teacher that her students all have taken on these same characteristics.
Q & A  with Mrs. Joe
What do you love most about Teaching?
I love most about teaching is seeing every student that steps into my classroom as 'Shiyazhi' (my precious little one) and making my students feel loved plays a huge part of my students' success in the classroom. I make sure my students place their confidence in me and I praise them which inspires them to show me that they are capable of doing more then what is expected out of them. I enjoy helping children realize that learning can be difficult and that is okay. My best moment as a Teacher is seeing a student grasp a concept for the first time. F or me there is no better reward than seeing a child's light bulb light up and that moment can be life changing for the student and me as a teacher.

Is there a group of students or a class period that you are particularly proud of and would like to Honor?
I would like to acknowledge my First Grade class this school. They have been enthusiastic learners, ready to tackle the day which motivated me to continue challenging them. They have made tremendous gains in reading and math. I commend them for that.
