Honor Our Teachers would like to recognize and honor Mrs. Sharon Gabion from Kirtland Early Childhood Center! Ms. Sharon Gabion is a 3y & 4y KECC Preschool teacher. Her principal would like to recognize her for her ability to implement STEAM activities into her curricula. One great example of this is when she used STEAM content to supplement the children's classic "The Three Little Pigs". Four and five year old students tapped into their architectural skills to design houses made of straw, sticks, and bricks. Students even tested the strength of their houses using a hair blow dryer! Ms. Gabion is an expert in creating lessons and activities that include realia and relevant props to engage students! Her integrated curriculum design allows children to explore language, math, science, and the arts simultaneously. Thank you Mrs. Gabion for all that your do! Q and A with Mrs Gabion:
What do you love most about Teaching? What I love most about teaching is that I never cease to learn. It is not only that students learn from me but I also learn from them. Some of my ideas originate from observing them and discovering their interests. Aside from using data to drive my instruction, I also based my strategies and activities on their interests and learning styles. I love making props to help my students practice high frequency concepts. Stoking that fire of excitement in learning in my students with high expectations, achievement and continuous growth is my passion. Is there a group of students or a class period that you are particularly proud of and would like to Honor? I am proud of both my morning and afternoon classes. I would like to honor four year old preschool students because they love coming to school and participate in class activities. They inspire me to work diligently and prepare exciting lessons to help them move up to the next level. They motivate me to continually raise the bar of excellence in teaching. |
